The Metro Water District received this national recognition for making a difference through water efficiency innovation and WaterSense promotion in 2014. The Metro Water District is the water planning agency for the 15-county Atlanta region.

A total of 17 winners and more than 1,700 other WaterSense partners have helped Americans save 1.1 trillion gallons of water and $21.7 billion in water and energy bills since 2006.

City of Atlanta Wins $30 Million HUD Choice Neighborhood Grant

Mayor Kasim Reed and Secretary Julián Castro announced today that the City of Atlanta has been selected to receive $30 million through the 2014-2015 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant. Mayor Reed and Secretary Castro made the announcement at a press event at The Oasis at Scholar’s Landing, a senior residence in the Atlanta University Center neighborhood.

The 26th annual Young Council of REALTORS® Charity Golf Tournament was held September 18th at Chastain Park Golf Course. Over 100 REALTORS® and guests came together to raise $22,000 dollars for the Carter Martin Cancer Research Fund. Over the past ten years the Young Council has raised over $250,000 dollars through the annual tournament, to benefit the fund and children’s cancer research.

Mayor Kasim Reed Advances $380 Million in New Transportation Infrastructure Spending...

Mayor Kasim Reed announced today that the Atlanta City Council has voted 13 to 1 to approve a measure to put a special local option sales tax (TSPLOST) referendum on the November ballot to fund transportation related infrastructure projects throughout the City of Atlanta. The ballot referendum will ask Atlanta voters to authorize a 0.4 percent sales tax increase for a five-year period. The TSPLOST is projected to generate approximately $260 million, which will be leveraged to generate additional matching funds.
