Atlanta Board of REALTORS® Young Professionals Network Awarded Placemaking Grant to Help Improve Beltline Community

ATLANTA, GA – October 8, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Atlanta Board of Realtors® has received a $2500.00 Placemaking micro-grant from the National Association of Realtors® to help make the Beltline community a better place to live and work by transforming unused public spaces into vibrant community places. The grant is intended to help Realtor Associations partner with others to plan, organize, implement and maintain placemaking activities in their communities

The Atlanta Board of RELATORS® Young Professional’s Network (YPN) has partnered with the Atlanta BeltLine to sponsor a permanent installation at the BeltLine TrailStation Welcome Center. YPN is honored to sponsor this internationally recognized project by donating approximately $3,900 to be used towards the exterior renovation at the TrailStation. In addition to housing the offices of the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership staff, the TrailStation will welcome users of the Eastside Trail looking for information on Atlanta BeltLine construction schedules, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, limited concessions and Atlanta BeltLine merchandise. It will serve as a meeting space for the 27-members of the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Board of Directors and the 60-member Atlanta BeltLine Young Leaders Council. The Young Council of Realtors® of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors® is also a partner on the project.

“Realtors® live, work and volunteer in their communities and take immense pride in working to improve them,” said Jennifer Pino, 2015 YPN Chair. “Placemaking can help foster healthier, more social and economically viable communities. It creates places where people feel a strong stake in their neighborhoods and are committed to making things better. This grant will allow us to address areas in our community that are in need of improvement or redevelopment and create a place where friends and neighbors can come together.”

Placemaking grants are awarded to local and state Realtor® associations to help them and their members initiate placemaking projects in the community, like turning a parking lot into a farmer’s market or a vacant lot into a playground. Realtor® associations and their Realtor® members are actively engaged in the community and know the neighborhoods and the properties that would benefit most from these improvement efforts.

“As the Beltline area becomes more attractive and welcoming, nearby properties may also increase in value,” Pino said.
