Workshops Help Make Homes More Resistant To Flooding
ATLANTA, GA – October 5, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Georgia property owners in flood-prone areas can get free advice on making their structures disaster resistant. Informal workshops are being held at home improvement stores and hardware stores in Cobb, Walker and DeKalb counties.
Mitigation specialists will come from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in cooperation with local businesses, building supply centers, relief agencies and local governments. Information will be given one-on-one in English and Spanish, and free publications will be available.
Mitigation workshops are running continuously from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. to give individual explanations on how to brace structures and property against flooding and other hazards. Experts can also answer questions about flood insurance.
Officials urge everyone to attend, including homeowners, building contractors and architects. Anyone may visit at any time and no registration is required.
