Turner Awarded Contracts Totaling $52 million by Corrections Corporation of America
Turner to Manage Expansion of Two Correctional Facilities to Accommodate Additional 1,660 Prisoners in Georgia
New York, N.Y. – August 19, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Turner Construction Company, the nation’s largest builder of correctional facilities, has been selected to by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) to manage the construction of two jail expansion projects in the state of Georgia that will accommodate a total of 1,660 additional inmates upon completion in June 2010.
The scope of work for the two correctional facilities includes renovations of special segregation dormitories and common services areas at both locations. In addition, Turner will manage the construction of a perimeter road and the installation of a stun fence around the two facilities.
The $27 million expansion of the Wheeler County Correctional Facility located in Alamo includes construction of two dormitory buildings to house 792 prisoners. The $25 million expansion of Coffee County Correctional Facility located in Nicholls will accommodate 868 prisoners.
