Rep. Johnson fighting foreclosures with 2 ‘Save the Dream’ events in fall of 2013

LITHONIA, GA – August 30, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — On Saturday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 5, Congressman Hank Johnson is hosting community events to help struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure.

In conjunction with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs’ HomeSafe Georgia program, certified housing counselors the D&E Group and CredAbility credit counselors, Rep. Johnson is holding the free events to help struggling homeowners.

The Sept. 28 event will be held at Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers and the Oct. 5 event will be Salem Bible Church in Lithonia.

Since 2011 more than 685 homeowners in the Fourth District have been approved for HomeSafe resulting in nearly $14 million in relief, more than any other congressional district in Georgia.

HomeSafe is designed to provide temporary assistance to Georgia homeowners who have suffered a substantial income loss due to involuntary unemployment or underemployment and who are able and willing to work.

The event will also provide opportunities for homeowners to meet with counselors to see if they are eligible for a loan modification.
