October 30, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — The Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) named Marietta Water the 2008 Wastewater Collections System of the year for cities in the 50,000 to 100,000 population group.
“A three-person team evaluated Marietta Water’s ability to properly manage, operate and maintain a sanitary sewer collections system at all times to properly convey wastewater and prevent sanitary sewer overflows,” Marietta Water director Bob Snelson said.
One of the reasons Marietta Water won is that the department has had very detailed inspections in recent years in all aspects of Marietta Water’s operations, Snelson said. “The inspectors that do these evaluations are experts in the industry and to have them select us as ‘best of the best’ is a tribute to the hard work our work force puts forward each day to provide high-quality and reliable service to our customers.”
This is the first year that Marietta Water has won the Wastewater Collections System Award. The GAWP in 2001, 2005 and 2007 named Marietta Water Georgia’s Water Distribution System of the Year, which awards utilities for delivering clean, drinkable to consumers.
