EPA Honors Eight Georgia Organizations with 2016 Energy Star Partners of the Year for Outstanding Achievements in Energy Efficiency/In 2014 alone, all Energy Star partners prevented 283 million metric tons of GHG emissions, providing $31.5 billion in economic benefits

ATLANTA – (RealEstateRama) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) are honoring 149 businesses and organizations in 35 states for their commitment to saving energy and protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements.

Recipients of the 2016 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award for Sustained Excellence in Georgia include:

Beazer Homes USA, Inc. (Atlanta, GA)
Ivey Residential LLC (Evans, GA)
Hoshizaki America, Inc. (Peachtree City, GA)
The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA)
Burton Energy Group (Alpharetta, GA)
Servidyne (Atlanta, GA)
Eaton (Peachtree City, GA)
Sustainable Investment Group (Atlanta, GA)

“This year’s Partner of the Year Award winners prove every day that saving money and protecting the environment go hand in hand,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “From major household brands to school districts, these leaders deserve to be congratulated for their commitment to reducing carbon pollution and protecting our climate.”

“Energy Star Partner of the Year Award winners help families, individuals, and businesses become more energy efficient,” said Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz. “By offering energy-efficient products, services, and programs, this year’s awardees continue to provide Americans with lower utility bills, new jobs, and fewer greenhouse gas emissions.”

Since its inception in 1992, Energy Star and its partners, including the 149 Partners of the Year awardees, have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, Energy Star and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.

The awards will be presented in Washington, DC, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel on April 13th. Sally Bingham, Interfaith Power & Light president will give the keynote presentation.

How Energy Star Partners of the Year in the Georgia are Taking Action:
· Beazer Homes USA, Inc. built more than 4,700 Energy Star certified homes in 2015, while saving more than 10,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions, compared to standard homes. The company also employs innovative techniques to demonstrate the value of their Energy Star homes. Their Houston Division launched a campaign called “Show Me the Bunny” to show that their well-insulated attics keep homes cool enough to keep a chocolate bunny from melting, even amidst the Texas heat!.
· Ivey Residential LLC built more than 140 Energy Star certified homes in 2015, saving homeowners more than $72,000 per year. The company also provides extensive training to all staff and homeowners about the value of Energy Star homes, and provides training to all trade allies and realtors about Energy Star requirements.
· Hoshizaki America, Inc. (Hoshizaki) is receiving ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence recognition for continuing to develop products that excel in energy efficiency, introducing comprehensive recycling programs, and successfully promoting ENERGY STAR to its customers and dealers. Hoshizaki’s leadership is demonstrated through dedicated efforts to highlight the benefits of ENERGY STAR equipment in both internal and external communications
· The Home Depot developed and implemented a new sales strategy that resulted in a significant increase in Energy Star product sales, and coordinated rebate offerings with local utilities for Energy Star products that resulted in approximately $310 million in incentives for customers. Home Depot also features Energy Star in high profile promotions throughout the year, including Earth Day and Energy Awareness Month, and promoted insulation during EPA’s “Rule Your Attic” campaign.
· Burton Energy Group helps its clients—which operate in diverse markets including hospitality, retail, distribution centers, as well as two new markets, education and commercial real estate—to optimize energy efficiency. The company leverages ENERGY STAR® processes, educational materials, and tracking and benchmarking tools to help its dozens of clients optimize their energy performance and lower operating costs, while reducing the environmental impact of operating buildings. Burton Energy Group is receiving ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence recognition for creating and managing client energy plans that improve energy efficiency and environmental performance, mitigate price risk, and lower overall energy-operating costs.
· Servidyne is an international energy management company that provides its clients with comprehensive programs that focus on energy efficiency, demand response, and sustainability in order to significantly enhance the operating, financial, and environmental performance of existing buildings. Servidyne is receiving ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence recognition for continuing to champion ENERGY STAR and for promoting energy performance benchmarking as a cornerstone of successful energy management strategies.
· Eaton delivers a wide range of innovative and reliable indoor and outdoor lighting solutions, as well as controls specifically designed to maximize performance, energy efficiency, and cost savings. Eaton is receiving ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year recognition for its impressive offering of ENERGY STAR certified products in the recessed downlight category and its commitment to educating distributors, retailers, and builders about ENERGY STAR and to helping improve customer experiences with energy efficient lighting.
· Sustainable Investment Group (SIG) strives to help its clients reduce energy and water use, and equips them to become leaders in sustainable real estate. SIG universally recommends benchmarking energy use in EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager®, and uses the ENERGY STAR 1–100 score to verify performance improvements and motivate clients to implement energy efficiency changes. Sustainable Investment Group is receiving ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition for integrating ENERGY STAR guidance, tools, and resources into its service offerings and educating the industry about the importance of sustainability in the built environment.

Organizations are recognized in the following categories:

Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence: The 93 Sustained Excellence winners continue to demonstrate remarkable leadership each year in the Energy Star program while remaining committed to environmental protection through superior energy efficiency.

Partner of the Year: Forty-seven organizations have been awarded the Partner of the Year award for strategically and comprehensively managing their energy use. These organizations promote Energy Star products and practices in their own operations, while providing energy-efficient products and services to their customers.
Contractor of the Year: Six of the winners are winning at least in part for their superior efforts in promoting the Home Performance with Energy Star program, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Energy with support from EPA.

Climate Communicator: The six Climate Communicator winners, all of whom are also Sustained Excellence awardees, have raised their customers’ awareness of the impacts of climate change. Through their efforts, these partners illustrate how energy-efficient behaviors have a positive impact on the environment while encouraging customers to save energy and protect the climate.

Excellence: Three winners are receiving recognition for demonstrating outstanding promotion of energy-efficient products, homes, or buildings.
