Barrow Announces $660,000 Grant to Prevent Veterans’ Homelessness

-

U.S. Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) today announced that the Central Savannah River Area Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc. (CSRA EOA) will receive a $661,334 grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The grant is being awarded from the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program whose mission is to prevent and end homelessness among veterans.

“We have an obligation to provide for our nation’s veterans after they serve their country,” said Congressman Barrow. “No veteran should be left homeless or without resources to help them succeed. This program puts resources into our communities to support our servicemen and women in Georgia. I look forward to working with the CSRA EOA to put these funds into action as soon as possible.”

The SSVF makes awards to private, non-profit organizations and consumer cooperatives. Organizations will provide eligible veteran families with outreach, case management, and assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits, including assistance for families living in or transitioning to permanent housing.
