Rep. Rob Woodall Votes to Restrain EPA Regulations

U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (GA 07) issued the following statement regarding his support of H.R. 2042, the “Ratepayer Protection Act,” which would extend the deadline – pending judicial review – for states to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s existing or future rules addressing emissions of carbon dioxide from fossil-fuel fired power plants. The measure passed the House by a 247 – 180 vote.

Senator David Perdue Condemns Power Grab By President Obama’s EPA

U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today condemned the Environmental Protection Agency’s recent water rule, Waters of the United States. In a Judiciary Committee hearing, Senator Perdue noted that the new rule from President Obama’s EPA is blatant regulatory overreach and will hurt Georgians. For example, the regulation would impact nearly 3,000 miles of roads, 1,500 miles of streams, and 1,400 miles of drainage ditches in Gwinnett County

Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge Participants Lead Nation in Water Savings Pilot Program

The City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Sustainability announced today that the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge Water Pilot program exceeded 22 other cities in a national water conservation program. Atlanta buildings participating in the pilot accounted for 43 percent of the total 377 million gallons of water saved – the equivalent of 570 Olympic-sized swimming pools – in the first year of program

Mayor Kasim Reed Advances $380 Million in New Transportation Infrastructure Spending...

Mayor Kasim Reed announced today that the Atlanta City Council has voted 13 to 1 to approve a measure to put a special local option sales tax (TSPLOST) referendum on the November ballot to fund transportation related infrastructure projects throughout the City of Atlanta. The ballot referendum will ask Atlanta voters to authorize a 0.4 percent sales tax increase for a five-year period. The TSPLOST is projected to generate approximately $260 million, which will be leveraged to generate additional matching funds.
