Dispose of Excess Federal Property

-

June 16, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in support of the most recently selected YouCut proposal to sell excess federal property, saving taxpayers approximately $15 billion. This initiative was first introduced by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) as part of the RSC Sunset Caucus.

“Once again, the American people have used YouCut to pick a common sense way to reduce Washington’s spending,” said Congressman Price. “With the federal government drowning in debt, taxpayers should not have to pay for buildings and property that are not even being used. Even President Obama supports selling excess federal property – although our plan would save taxpayers nearly five times as much by actually amending current law. Putting excess property in private hands will definitely lead to a better use and is a better allocation of resources. Surely this is one spending cut my Democrat colleagues will be able to support.”
